Andrzej Kwieciński's opera Moniuszko à Paris to be staged in Warsaw and Brussels

Andrzej Kwieciński's new opera Moniuszko à Paris will be staged at La Monnaie, Brussels in 2020 after it is given ints debut at the Polish National Opera on 21 September 2019 during the Warsaw Autumn Festival.

Andrzej Kwieciński is a leading Polish composer of the young generation. He studied in Warsaw and The Hague (under Louis Andriessen among others). He is the finalist and prizewinner of a number of prestigious competitions, including the 9th Tokyo International Competition for Chamber Music Composition (2004) and Young Masters XXI 2010 (first prize). He received the Henriëtte Bosmans Prize (2011) i the Gaudeamus Prize (2012). This is his first opera.

The libretto was penned by Kristin Lada. The production is directed and designed by Marc Lainé. Rafał Kłoczko will conduct. Moniuszko à Paris is produced by the Polish National Opera, La Monnaie/De Munt and the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, Waterloo. It is supported by enoa, the European Network of Opera Academies.
