Moniuszko recordings nominated for Polish music industry awards

Two Moniuszko recordings are up for the Fryderyk Awards, Polish music industry awards, with the concert version of The Haunted Manor under Zygmunt Rychert and Phantoms under Andrzej Kosendiak competing for Best Album of Classical Music.

The first album was released by DUX and marked 70 years of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk. It was prepared by the academy's most prominent teachers and features the Symphony Orchestra and Chorus of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk under Zygmunt Rychert. Starring in the leading roles are Leszek Skrla (Sword-bearer), Anna Fabrello (Hanna), Karolina Sikora (Jadwiga), Ryszard Minkiewicz (Damazy), Daniel Kotliński (Zbigniew) and Paweł Skałuba (Stefan). Released by CD Accord, the second album was recorded by the Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music. It features the cantata performed by Jarosław Bręk (Volkhv), Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk (Young Girl), Jerzy Butryn (Phantom), Bogdan Makal (Old Man), Joanna Rot (Owl), Dominik Kujawa (Kruk), the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra and the Choir of the National Forum of Music under Andrzej Kosendiak, as well as actors Paweł Janyst, Mariusz Bonaszewski, Przemysław Wasilkowski and Anna Wieczorek.
