VIVA MONIUSZKO! exhibition catalogue available now

2019 is the year of Stanisław Moniuszko's bicentenary. Let us, however, put aside for just a while the tradition and romantic patriotism with which the composer is usually associated. The exhibition currently on display at the Opera Gallery in the Teatr Wielki, Warsaw showcases him as a composer, conductor, educator and general manger of an opera house. It is a journey through his work and his life, both viewed in the context of the times and the Polish intellectual circles of the mid-19th century.

Accompanying the exhibition is a richly illustrated Polish-English catalogue including intereseting essays by three prominent musicologists: Marcin Gmys (Moniuszko: unfinished European project), Magdalena Dziadek (Stanisław Moniuszko: national composer) and Rüdiger Ritter (Moniuszko's Place in The History of European Music).

To buy the catalogue pop into the Moniuszko Lounge at the Teatr Wielki or visit the opera house's online boutique.
