The summer 1871 saw the establishment of the Warsaw Music Society. In its issue of 6 July 1971, Kłosy, a Warsaw-based magazine, listed all of the society's founding members: Adolf Bogucki, August Freyer, Ludwik Grossman, Jan Kleczyński, Ignacy Krzyżanowski, Maria Nesselrode-Muchanow, Sergiusz Muchanow, Stanisław Moniuszko, Adam Münchheimer, Mieczysław Malcz, Antoni Nagórny, Józef Sikorski, Gustaw Sennewald, Teofil Seidler, Henryk Toeplitz, Wilhelm Troszel, Józef Wieniawski, Władysław Wiślicki and Robert Wolff. The new society started off by organising concerts twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It also held a composing competition.
